Frontline for Climate Action is proud to announce that Peter Martin, our Communication Officer, has been awarded a Climate Friendly Travel (CFT) Diploma Scholarship, a distinguished program designed by the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) Malta in partnership with SUNx Malta.
On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, Peter had the honor of joining fellow scholarship awardees from 35 countries across the globe for the CFT Diploma Orientation Session. The program brings together emerging leaders in sustainable development, travel, and climate action to build capacity toward a zero greenhouse gas (GHG) future by 2050.
The orientation opened with an inspiring address by Prof. Geoffrey Lipman, President of SUNx Malta, who introduced participants to the organization’s mission and outlined the structure of the CFT Diploma. Participants were warmly welcomed by Mr. Pierre Fenech, Chief Executive Officer of ITS, and Dr. Simon Caruana, Senior Manager at ITS.
A highlight of the session was a thought-provoking presentation by Mr. Leslie Vella, Chair of SUNx Malta and Deputy CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority. He emphasized Malta’s long-standing commitment to climate action and the nation’s leadership in positioning itself as a global center for Climate Friendly Travel.
Reflecting on the experience, Peter shared how deeply inspired he was by the global community of participants, each bringing unique perspectives, expertise, and motivation to drive sustainable transformation in their regions.
Peter expressed heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Cedric Dzelu, Technical Director at the Office of the Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability of Ghana, for sharing this life-changing opportunity, and extended gratitude to Ms. Pratishtha Parajuli, Education Manager at SUNx Malta, for her unwavering guidance and support throughout the scholarship process.
As the Communication Officer of Frontline for Climate Action, Peter will leverage the knowledge, skills, and networks gained from the CFT Diploma to advance climate change communication, sustainability advocacy, and policy engagement efforts in Ghana and beyond.
This achievement reinforces Frontline for Climate Action’s mission to tackle the climate crisis through education, advocacy, community engagement, renewable energy transitions, and sustainable innovation. Together, we continue to empower changemakers who will shape a resilient and climate-friendly future.
