Frontline for Climate Action (FCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dora Larweh as Project Pillar Lead for Advocacy Dialogues under its Powering Justice: Grassroots Advocacy for Energy Sovereignty and a Just Transition in Ghana project, supported by the Global Greengrants Fund.

Her appointment reflects FCA’s commitment to identifying, empowering and providing meaningful leadership opportunities for young environmental advocates who demonstrate initiative, community engagement and a dedication to climate justice and sustainable development.

As Ghana pursues a cleaner and more inclusive energy future, meaningful participation by communities in energy-related decisions is essential. FCA believes that grassroots voices, particularly those of women and young people, must help shape the policies and solutions that affect their environment, energy access and livelihoods.

Dora Larweh leads the Eco Dialogue Network and has been involved in organising community and beach clean-up exercises, environmental education, sanitation advocacy and climate change sensitisation. Through this work, she has developed practical experience in community engagement, communication, teamwork and mobilising people around shared environmental concerns.

Her approach is grounded in the conviction that lasting environmental solutions require active community participation and collaboration among stakeholders. Dora has expressed a strong commitment to ensuring that the needs, rights and concerns of grassroots communities are considered in Ghana’s energy transition, alongside the expansion of renewable energy solutions.

As Project Pillar Lead for Advocacy Dialogues, Dora will help create constructive spaces for dialogue among community members, youth and women’s groups, civil society organisations, traditional authorities and policymakers. Her work will seek to turn community experiences into actionable recommendations and stronger institutional engagement.

Key Responsibilities

·       Community Advocacy Dialogues: Coordinate inclusive community and stakeholder dialogues on energy justice, energy sovereignty and the just transition.

·       Policy and Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate constructive engagement with policymakers, civil society organisations, traditional authorities and community representatives.

·       Community-Centred Policy Briefs: Document grassroots concerns and support policy briefs and practical recommendations informed by community perspectives.

·       Youth and Women’s Participation: Promote the meaningful participation of women and young people in local and national energy governance discussions.

·       Follow-up and Accountability: Support documentation, partnership building and follow-up on dialogue outcomes to encourage responsive action.

Through these activities, Dora will contribute to FCA’s broader objective of ensuring that communities are heard, informed and empowered to influence Ghana’s sustainable energy future.

About the Powering Justice Project

Powering Justice: Grassroots Advocacy for Energy Sovereignty and a Just Transition in Ghana is a three-month initiative implemented by Frontline for Climate Action with support from the Global Greengrants Fund.

The project empowers grassroots communities, particularly women and young people, to advocate for environmental justice, energy sovereignty and an inclusive transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy systems. It is structured around four complementary pillars: Advocacy Dialogues; Women’s Leadership in Energy Justice; Environmental Justice Campaigns; and Energy Sovereignty Awareness.

Through these interventions, FCA aims to facilitate community–policymaker engagement, strengthen the capacity of 50 women climate advocates, raise awareness of environmental justice and increase understanding of decentralised renewable energy solutions. Dora’s pillar will help connect community perspectives with policy discussions and decision-making processes.

Investing in Youth Leadership for Lasting Climate Impact

Dora’s appointment reflects FCA’s belief that young people should not merely participate in climate conversations but should be equipped to lead practical initiatives, build partnerships and advance community-centred solutions. Her role offers an opportunity to strengthen grassroots advocacy and translate dialogue into meaningful action.

Congratulations, Dora Larweh! Together, we are powering justice, empowering communities and building a sustainable future for Ghana.

People. Power. Just Energy for a Sustainable Ghana.
