Partnership between Noveli E-Solutions and Frontline for Climate Action to Launch Climate Change Education in Ningo-Prampram

Climate change poses a significant threat to communities worldwide, including those in the Ningo Prampram Constituency of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. Recognizing the importance of climate education and the need to empower future generations to address these challenges, Frontline for Climate Action and Noveli E-Solutions have teamed up to launch a comprehensive climate change education and awareness initiative. This program will target five Senior High Schools (SHS) within the Ningo-Prampram District Assembly.

Climate change education is pivotal in raising the leaders of tomorrow, equipping them to tackle the pressing environmental challenges. By fostering a deep understanding of climate issues among students, we are preparing a generation that can implement sustainable solutions and drive meaningful change.

The project, supported by the Ningo Prampram District Assembly and the YMCA of Prampram and PramCiti TV as a media partner, aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to combat climate change effectively.         

Objectives

• Increase Awareness: Enhance understanding of climate change among students in five selected SHS.

• Empower Students: Equip students with the knowledge and skills to take action on climate change in their schools and communities.

• Foster Sustainability: Cultivate a culture of sustainability and environmental stewardship among the youth in the Ningo Prampram Constituency.

Target Schools

The project will be implemented in the following five Senior High Schools:

1. Prampram SHS

2. Ningo SHTS

3. Prampram Technical Institute

4. Afienya Technical Institute

5. Global SHS (Private)

Activities

The project will include a range of activities designed to educate and engage students:

• Climate Change Workshops: Workshops will be organized in each school to educate students on the science of climate change, its impacts, and the importance of sustainable practices.

• Climate Clubs: Establishing climate clubs in each school will provide platforms for students to engage in climate action initiatives, such as tree planting, waste management, and energy conservation.

• Training of Trainers: Select teachers and students will be trained as peer educators to sustain the project's impact beyond its duration.

• Community Outreach: Students will organize community events to share their knowledge and raise awareness about climate change among local leaders, parents, and other stakeholders.

Mode of Delivery

The program will utilize diverse delivery methods to ensure maximum engagement and learning:

• High-Level Talks: Experts in climate science and environmental conservation will deliver informative presentations.

• Panel Discussions: Interactive panel discussions with local leaders, environmental activists, and community members will provide multiple perspectives on climate change issues.

• Short Video Presentations: Educational videos showcasing real-world climate change impacts and solutions will be screened.

• Slide Presentations: Visually engaging slides will be used to illustrate complex climate concepts.
