John Coblah Matrevi, a passionate student advocate for climate action, has been awarded Best Student in Environmental Sustainability at this year’s prestigious Ghana Tertiary Awards. This recognition highlights John’s tireless dedication to promoting climate awareness and sustainability within and beyond the academic space.
Reflecting on the award, John shared: “When I was nominated in this category, I was overwhelmed. My mentor, Mr. Cedric Dzelu, Head of the Technical Team at the Ministry for Climate Change and Sustainability, has been instrumental in grooming me into the climate change activist I am today. I never imagined that my impact would be recognized so quickly. This award serves as fuel for me to keep pushing forward.”
Driven by a deep passion for environmental justice, John has been actively involved in numerous volunteer activities and campaigns focused on climate advocacy. From community sensitization to policy conversations, he has committed to raising awareness and catalyzing meaningful change.

“This award makes me feel proud of myself,” John added. “It’s encouraging and energizing, and I’m more determined than ever to continue serving as a voice in the fight against climate change, not just for today, but for the future of our nation and planet.”
The Ghana Tertiary Awards continues to play a vital role in recognizing young changemakers who are making a difference. For John, this award is only the beginning.
