In the spirit of strengthening youth leadership in climate justice across West Africa, the International Climate Change Development Initiative (ICCDI) is partnering with Ghana’s Frontline for Climate Action (FCA) to deliver an intensive, targeted capacity-building programme for young climate activists in Ghana. Supported by Funding for Social Change Ltd., this initiative stands as a powerful investment in the next generation of African climate leaders. The programme will be held under the auspices of the District Chief Executive of the Ningo Prampram District Assembly, with media partnership from PramCiti TV, Atinka TV, and Obonu TV.
Under the banner “Climate Justice Advocacy for Young African Climate Activists – Ghana Edition,” the programme will equip 30 young Ghanaians aged 18–35 with the skills, knowledge, and strategic tools needed to drive transformative climate action in their communities and beyond. At a time when climate impacts continue to intensify—from flooding and coastal erosion to agricultural disruptions—empowering local youth who understand the realities on the ground has never been more urgent.
This training will focus on key pillars of effective climate justice advocacy, including climate policy literacy, grassroots mobilization, adaptation and resilience strategies, environmental rights, and the use of communication as a tool for influence and accountability. Participants will also engage in practical sessions on community-led climate solutions, storytelling for advocacy, navigating global climate frameworks, and holding duty bearers accountable.
The collaboration between ICCDI and FCA reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that African voices, particularly those on the frontlines of climate vulnerability, are not only heard but are shaping the continent’s climate agenda. By investing in young activists—many of whom come from communities directly affected by climate impacts—the programme strengthens Ghana’s human capital for climate leadership, policy engagement, and sustainable development.
Funding for Social Change Ltd.’s support underscores the growing recognition that lasting climate progress requires social movements powered by informed, confident youth advocates. Their contribution enables this training to become a meaningful platform through which young leaders can contribute to the push for climate justice, equitable development, and resilient futures.
As Ghana continues its journey toward low-carbon development pathways, initiatives like this signal hope. They demonstrate that when institutions, civil society, and funders work together, they can unlock the potential of young Africans to build a more just, sustainable, and climate-resilient continent.
The “Climate Justice Advocacy for Young African Climate Activists – Ghana Edition” is not just a training programme—it is a call to action, a movement-building catalyst, and an investment in the warriors of Africa’s climate future. Through their voices, skills, and passion, Ghana’s young climate activists are poised to influence local, national, and global climate discourse in powerful new ways.
