Frontline for Climate Action has taken a significant step toward enhancing its climate advocacy and resource mobilization efforts by participating in a four-day training program for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Ghana. Organized by the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) under the Response and Resilience Strengthening Programme, the training took place at the Mensvic Grand Hotel with support from the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF). The program aimed to equip CSOs with the necessary skills to drive impactful climate advocacy and secure sustainable funding for environmental action and social change.

Building Capacity for Effective Climate Advocacy

Representing Frontline for Climate Action at the training were Mr. Peter Martin, Communications Officer, and Mr. Solomon Djangmah, Programs Officer. They engaged with key stakeholders and fellow CSOs to explore innovative strategies for resource mobilization and effective climate advocacy, particularly in the areas of biodiversity conservation and resilience-building.

The training emphasized the growing need for grassroots organizations to strengthen their advocacy capabilities amid evolving climate challenges and shifting donor landscapes. Participants were introduced to practical techniques for stakeholder engagement, policy influence, and sustainable fundraising.

Mr. Peter Martin highlighted the power of strategic storytelling and public engagement in shaping policy and mobilizing support for climate resilience initiatives. He underscored the role of effective communication in amplifying grassroots voices to ensure climate concerns are addressed at local, national, and international levels.

Similarly, Mr. Solomon Djangmah shared insights on donor engagement and program implementation, emphasizing the importance of collaborative partnerships. He stressed that securing financial and technical support is critical for scaling up climate interventions and achieving long-term environmental impact.

Empowering CSOs for Sustainable Climate Action

The interactive sessions enabled participants to exchange ideas, best practices, and success stories from their respective climate resilience projects. Key topics covered included proposal writing, donor engagement strategies, and policy advocacy—essential skills for strengthening Ghana’s climate action ecosystem.

The training also encouraged multi-sector collaboration, urging CSOs to work alongside government agencies, private sector actors, and international donors to ensure sustainable financing for climate-related projects.

A Call to Action for Sustained Climate Efforts

As climate change continues to threaten vulnerable communities in Ghana, initiatives like these are crucial in equipping CSOs with the tools needed to drive meaningful change. WACSI reaffirmed its commitment to supporting civil society organizations in their advocacy for climate justice, resilience-building, and resource mobilization.

By leveraging the skills gained from this training, Ghanaian CSOs are now better positioned to influence policy, secure funding, and implement impactful climate solutions at both the grassroots and national levels.

Frontline for Climate Action calls on all stakeholders—including government bodies, private sector players, and development partners—to support local CSOs in their fight against climate change, ensuring a sustainable and climate-resilient future for Ghana.
