Dr. Emmanuel Marfo, a distinguished Ghanaian environmental scientist and former Member of Parliament for Oforikrom, has been appointed as the Director for the West and Central Africa regions by the Climate Parliament. This appointment underscores his extensive expertise and longstanding commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action.


Profile of Dr. Emmanuel Marfo

Born on July 27, 1973, Dr. Emmanuel Marfo holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Policy and has dedicated his career to addressing environmental and climate challenges. Before entering politics, he served as the Principal Research Scientist at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) - Forestry Research Institute at Fumesua, Kumasi, in Ghana’s Ashanti Region. His work focused on sustainable forestry management, biodiversity conservation, and climate change adaptation strategies.


Dr. Marfo’s contributions extend beyond research. As a former MP, he was a vocal advocate for climate-smart policies and sustainable development in Ghana. His leadership roles include chairing the Global Parliamentary Group of the Climate Vulnerable Forum, where he has championed initiatives to protect vulnerable communities from the adverse impacts of climate change.
