Cedric Dzelu, a distinguished alumnus of the YMCA Change Agent Program and Subject to Citizen Ambassador, graced the Greater Accra YMCA on Saturday, May 25, 2024, with his presence. Cedric, also the Executive Director of Frontline for Climate Action, shared his remarkable journey from Prampram to international prominence, aiming to ignite inspiration among the youth. His commitment to nurturing future leaders is commendable, setting a stellar example for aspiring young leaders like himself.
This engagement is part of the implementation of the Doin' It Right project, which involves Regional Youth Leadership Training sessions organized by various Regional YMCAs. Led by the National Youth Committee in collaboration with Regional Youth Executives, these one-day workshops serve as platforms to orient members on YMCA governance and equip them with essential skills in youth leadership and the Power Space Model. Through these initiatives, young leaders are empowered to design impactful programs for their respective YMCA branches.
During the workshop, participants delve into the rich history and values of the Ghana YMCA, alongside insights into the Vision 20230 model. Such knowledge provides a solid foundation for the young leaders to enact meaningful change within their communities. The initiative not only fosters personal growth but also cultivates a sense of responsibility and leadership among the youth, positioning them as change-makers poised to drive positive transformations.
The success of the Doin' It Right Project is attributed to the collaborative efforts of the Ghana YMCA and the YWCA-YMCA of Sweden, whose partnership exemplifies a shared commitment to youth development and empowerment. Kudos to the National Youth Committee and Regional Youth Executives for their dedication to nurturing the next generation of leaders, ensuring a brighter and more promising future for Ghana and beyond.
